Originally this book written as a speech for the Jat-Pat Todak Mandal, a Hindu reformist group based in Lahore. Dr. Ambedkar was invited to speak but refused to edit or dilute his radical views on Hinduism and caste. The organizers cancelled the event, so Dr. Ambedkar self-published the full speech as a book.
